Wol transforms your space into a redwood forest and introduces you to an AI-enabled owl you can converse with about the forest and its ecosystem.
Wol is a cutting-edge augmented reality experience, offering a unique perspective on differentiated learning through an immersive Meta Quest Pro or mobile device. Powered by AI and driven by user interaction, conversations with Wol explore new learning pathways each time.
This project, a collaboration between Liquid City, Niantic, 8th Wall, Inworld, and Meta, utilizes Inworld’s advanced conversational AI models and leverages 8th Wall’s webAR capabilities for seamless deployment via browser.
I worked as 3D lead, overseeing production of all 3D assets and bringing everything together in Blender and 8th wall. I also worked on early ideation and development of the project as well as the lesson plan/UX flow

In addition to modeling, spatial design, and scene composition, I focused heavily on managing and integrating assets from various artists. This involved ensuring they had everything they needed, providing markups, and making sure all elements came together smoothly.
This was only a 3 month project right from ideation to final product which was a huge undertaking. Due to 8th wall only accepting GLB's at the time I had to learn blender very quickly in order to bring the assets together.

The project was developed for both mobile web AR and web VR, requiring significant optimization. Figuring out the best techniques using multiple new tools was a real challenge. The entire canopy was textured, and much of the ground cover used instanced meshes with code input for transform placement, all of which had to be figured out on the fly.
